In the officers defense, the dog was black..

It could have been a 6 year old, black, female dog.

Did the officer follow the dog instead of waiting for backup? Did the dog look suspicious before he fired? I think the cop was just standing his ground.

does anyone remember the cop who threw a dog down stairs in an alley way and then shot it? in front of the owner who was being held back?

Not to "stray" off topic but wasn't there one who opened fire on a room full of attack kittens not long ago? I could swear it was local.

The vet examines the still, limp body and after a few moments tells the man that his dog, regrettably, is dead. The man, clearly agitated and not willing to accept this, demands a second opinion.

The vet goes into the back room and comes out with a cat and puts the cat down next to the dog's body. The cat sniffs the body, walks from head to tail poking and sniffing the dog's body and finally looks at the vet and meows. The vet looks at the man and says, "I'm sorry, but the cat thinks that your dog is dead too."

The man is still unwilling to accept that his dog is dead.

The vet brings in a black Labrador. The lab sniffs the body, walks from head to tail, and finally looks at the vet and barks. The vet looks at the man and says, "I'm sorry, but the lab thinks your dog is dead too."

The man, finally resigned to the diagnosis, thanks the vet and asks how much he owes. The vet answers, "$650."

"$650 to tell me my dog is dead?" exclaimed the man....

"Well," the vet replies, "I would only have charged you $50 for my initial diagnosis. The additional $600 was for the cat scan and lab tests."

Answer: With a can of gasoline and a match.

Perhaps. I believe this is how it happened..

The owner said "Get in the kitchen, girl!" but the dog refused, the officer realizing he said girl and kitchen but didn't reply, shot the dog for refusing to comply.

In my case it would make me feel better if a cop shot 1 of my dogs the other 2 would get him lol

Shitty situation all the way around being in the cops position I could why you might want to shoot a dog running towards you.

Most officers carry a taser on them. If a taser can take down a human, then I can't see why it wouldn't take down a dog. Maybe I am wrong, and they don't work well on dogs due to thicker skin or something, but it's a WAY more reasonable approach than killing the animal.

Stopped him ok, but then he took off even more crazy. I can see where that probably wouldn't work real well indoors.

If you clicked the link, its not a big dog and it looks fairly old. The bigger issue is that there was a chainlink fence that couldve prevented the dog from getting him. :|

Yea I know but it looks like a German Sheppard...I own pitbulls so I understand people automatically classify certain dogs as dangerous.

I assume if it was a lab or retriever or some other dogs things might have went differently.

Are they getting the owner a new dog? didnt read to much into this. Not that a new dog will solve the issue.... its a good start.

Apparently: grammar; is, an. issue! love it (bitches)

Yah I know what you mean. I hate people assuming that rottweiler and pitbull gonna eat their babys and sht. They're cute and chubby, nothing to fear and it was a mixed mastiff. Also what dog doesn't get excited when someone comes to visit? The least he couldve done was fire a warning shot cause you know that'd scare the shit out of the dog.

So I went to get gas last night (after posting that) and there was a sticker on the gas pump that read something like "How do you like $4/gallon gas - NOBAMA 2012" and someone wrote in pen "dog eater". I just thought that was a funny coincidence. lol
